CHROMagar B.cereus

Plate reading

  • Bacillus cereus group – blue with white halo
  • Other Bacillus – blue, colourless, or inhibited
  • Gram negative bacteria – inhibited
  • Yeast and moulds – inhibited
  • Easy reading after only 24 hours
  • Highly sensitive & specific for cereus group compared to MYP or Mossel agar
  • No Egg york emulsion
  • Longer shelf life compared to MYP agar
CHROMagar E.coli

Plate reading

  • E.coli – blue
  • Other gram negative bacteria – colourless
  • Gram positive – Inhibited
  • 18-24h detection
  • Easy reading and interpretation
  • Lighter workload
  • 5% more agar than other media helps with the application and streaking of the sample onto the plate
CHROMagar ECC

 Pate reading

  • E.coli – blue
  • Other Coliforms – mauve
  • Other bacteria – colourless or inhibited
  • Simultaneous detection and differentiation between E.coli and coliforms in one medium
  • Easy to read – high colour contrast between colonies, no mixing of both colours
CHROMagar Liquid ECC

Plate reading

  • E.coli – blue
  • Other faecal coliform bacteria – purple
  • Other gram negative bacteria – colourless or inhibited
  • Innovative chromogenic culture medium used in broth form (without agar) within the water filtration technique, to impregnate a filter pad on which the filter membrane is placed
  • Very easy to prepare compared to agar based culture media
  • Economic – only 2ml/test
  • Simultaneous detection and differentiation between E.coli and coliforms in one medium
  • Easy to read – high colour contrast between colonies, no mixing of both colours

 

CHROMagar Listeria

Plate reading

  • L.monocytogenes – blue, diameter less than 3mm, regular and white halo
  • Other microorganisms – blue, colourless, other colour, inhibited
  • Differentiation of Listeria monocytogenes from other Listeria directly at the isolation step
  • Only 24 hour selective enrichment and 24 hour plate incubation
  • Requires less media and processing than traditional techniques
  • Full identification process is AFNOR validated
Rambaquick Salmonella

Plate reading

  • N/A – selective enrichment broth
  • A combination of the best functions found in each of RVS and MKTTn broths
  • 7 hour selective enrichment step compared to 24 hours for traditional methods
  • Negative result in 2 days
  • Positive result in 3 days
CHROMagar Salmonella Plus

Plate reading

  • Salmonella (including S.typhi, S.paratyphi A and lactose positive Salmonella) – mauve
  • E.coli – colourless
  • Coliforms, etc – blue
  • Proteus, etc – colourless or inhibited
  • Meets ISO 6579:2002 requirements by detecting lactose positive Salmonella
  • Easy to read with the naked eye: E.coli are colourless and cannot hide suspect colonies.
  • High sensitivity and specificity compared to other chromogenic media
  • Decreases workload – fewer false positives
CHROMagar Staph aureus

Plate reading

  • Staphylococcus aureus – pink to mauve
  • Other bacteria – colourless, blue or inhibited
  • Sensitivity – 98.5%
  • Specificity – 97% for presumptive identification
  • Fast – results available after only 24h compared to 48h for Baird Parker medium
CHROMagar STEC

  • Most common Shiga-Toxin E.coli serotypes – mauve
  • Other Enterobacteriacae – colourless, blue or inhibited
  • Gram positive bacteria – inhibited
  • Highly selective – excellent for screening
  • Detects all shiga toxin producing E coli serotypes not only E O157
